Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa said on Monday that if the Congress lost the BBMP polls, the party and not Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be in trouble, as the AICC was not in a position to seek his resignation.

Speaking to mediapersons here in Mysuru, the MLC said that if Siddaramaiah was ousted, he would walk out with his supporters, causing trouble to the government.

“The Congress, which is a ruling party only in Karnataka, among big states, will lose power. Siddaramaiah is committing one mistake after another and daring the Congress high command,” he said.

‘Goondaism’
Eshwarappa said the Congress was resorting to ‘goondaism’ because its leaders feared defeat in the election. “Congressmen are trying to disrupt the BJP’s poll campaign at several places. The Congress did not want to face the BBMP election at any cost and the BJP had to fight it out in the courts,” he said. He said that if the Congress won the polls, it would go into a celebration mode and forget about farmers’ suicides.

‘Sack co-op minister’
Eshwarappa urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to sack Co-operation Minister H S Mahadev Prasad for his ‘lazy’ remark against farmers.

“Even as the chief minister is appealing to farmers not to commit suicide and face the crisis boldly, Prasad is ridiculing them by calling them lazy. He should have resigned on moral grounds. But, as he has not offered to quit the ministry, the chief minister should act,” he said.
