Cricket: Local round-up: Nagendra scores ton as MCC post 110-run victory over Engrades CC

Kiran Kumar struck 77 in his team’s first innings total of 267 for nine in 55 overs and then picked three wickets in both the innings of  JUC for a match haul of six for 78 as Select Cricketers emerged victors by a comfortable margin of 93 runs. 

Having posted 267 in their first essay, Select bowled out JUC for a paltry 116 from 35.5 overs.

Select rattled in 121 for nine from the stipulated 30 overs in their second essay and set up an improbable 214-run target for JUC, who could manage 179 for eight.

Modern Cricket Club put to fore by a good overall performance scored a comfortable 110-run win over Engrades Cricket Club in the Group I, Division V league for the JB Mallaradhya Trophy.

Batting first, MCC rallied on Nagendra Kumar’s ton and a half-century from Harish to post 279 all out in 50 overs. Sachin (61 n.o.) gave Engrades a start but three wickets each for MCC’s Mani Kumar (3/48) and Pramodh (3/23) pegged Engrades to a modest 169 all out in 27.5 overs.
