JD(S) workers protest in front of ex-MLA's house

Tension prevailed for some time in front of former MLA Narendra Babu’s residence in Mahalakshmi Layout late on Thursday night after a group of JD(S) workers, led by MLA Gopalaiah, staged a protest.

Gopalaiah alleged that Babu hosted a dinner on the pretext of a ritual and distributed money among voters, asking them to vote in favour of Congress candidates. Babu refuted the allegations stating that he had hosted the dinner for his friends, relatives and party workers, as part of a ritual and claimed that money was not distributed.

Police rushed to the spot and monitored the situation. No complaint was registered till late night, the police said.
