'CMC Commissioner cares little for resolutions'

Accusing that CMC Commissioner Pushpavathi of caring little for the resolutions passed at the CMC general meetings, BJP members, said they will take to the streets to protest the negligent attitude of the commissioner.

During the CMC meeting held here, on Wednesday, the members K S Ramesh, P D Ponnappa, T S Prakash, Unnikrishna, Anitha Poovaiah, Shivakumari, expressed displeasure over the behaviour of the Commissioner.

“How could the grants be released by the CMC, despite a resolution adopted at the CMC meet, barring release of funds to the contractors, who have carried out sub-standard work of the new building of the CMC office,” they questioned.

They meanwhile demanded that the amount be recovered from the contractor and the officer, who was responsible for sanctioning the amount. “The release of funds, was totally against the resolution adopted at the meet, last week,” they added.

The members accused that the works carried out under the second stage of Nagarotthana project, is not upto the mark. But, Rs nine crore has been sanctioned to the contractor, even though it was recommended not to release.

Also, it was decided to place a request before the state government to limit the tax hike to 15 per cent, instead of 30 per cent. While the computerised Form 3 method, has also not been implemented.

Commissioner’s version

Speaking to media persons CMC Commissioner Pushpavathi said “the administrative decisions need to be taken as per the rules and regulations and not in a hurry. A notice has been served to the contractors who have carried out the work on the new building of the CMC. However, recovery of the amount from them cannot be done immediately.”

She clarified that 15 per cent of tax is being collected from November 2014 and the additional tax paid will be adjusted for the next period. The process regarding Form 3 applications could only be done after the completion of survey in all wards.

The survey work is being carried out at Mahadevpet, Ganapathy road and Cauvery Layout. The related files are in DMA office, based upon the results, the survey work will be carried out in different wards.”
