Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake on Thursday said that 3,200 vacant posts in the department of Municipal Administration would be filled in the next three months.

Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting with the officials of the department at Urban Development Authority office in Hassan on Thursday, the minister said that most of the posts in the various local bodies of the State were lying vacant.

“The recruitment to these posts will begin soon. The deputy commissioners of the respective districts will be given the authority to fill the posts of ‘D’ group employees, while the vacant posts for ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ groups would be filled through Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC)”, he said.

Sorake said that henceforth, the Urban Development Authority would allot sites in 50:50 ratio among farmers and public in the newly formed layouts. The new formula would benefit the farmers who have parted with their lands”, he said.

A new law is being introduced to restrict the private developers from selling the sites until the layout development is complete.

There are complaints that the private developers provide only a part of the basic amenities and completely neglect the remaining area after developing the same, causing a lot of inconveniences to the allottees. The new law will ensure that the whole area is completely developed before the sites are up for sale, Sorake added.
