Seminar on 'Smart Cities' on Sept 3, 4

A two-day mega seminar on “Sustainable Smart Cities India” will be held in the City on September 3 and 4.

A panel of experts from diverse sectors, including government representatives, will attend the event. A road map to smart cities, “Swachcha Bharat,” internet penetration, India’s preparedness for smart cities and the role of information technology in building smart cities will be discussed.

At a press meet here on Friday, M C Dinesh, senior vice-president, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industries, spoke about the importance of building smart towns, active involvement of government authorities, while describing the meaning of ‘smart’ in smart cities. He also brought out the importance of the role of cities as economic engines of the state.

Narendra Kumar, managing director, Nispana, the agency which has conceptualised the event, said, “The idea of smart cities is still at its infancy stage and hence there are many misconceptions and lack of clarity on the same.”
