Game turns into battle

The Yelahanka police said two teams students from II BSc and IV BSc Agriculture respectively began fighting after the umpire turned down an appeal for a dismissal. Before the situation could turn ugly, the physical education teacher intervened and players left the ground.

According to police, at night, Kishore and Manjunath from the rival teams instigated Thippeswamy and eight others. In a fit of anger, the gang equipped with hockey sticks, sluggers and cricket bats attacked Manjunath in his hostel room. The injured were taken to hospital while the others were taken into custody by police. On Saturday morning, the college authorities were doing the rounds of the police station, requesting the cops to release the students promising that they would settle the issue
amicably.
