A con man who took a swanky motorcycle and with it the staff members of a showroom here for a ride was caught in Mumbai on Friday.

A well-dressed T Kiran, who identified himself as an IIT graduate and son of an Armyman at the Harley Davidson showroom in Banjara Hills before speeding away with a machine worth an on-road price of around Rs 6 lakh on Tuesday, was caught along with the vehicle .

Banjara Hills Police Station inspector Santosh said Kiran, 30, is an employee of a state-owned firm and has a decent family background.

He said Kiran’s passion for expensive motorbikes made him commit the act.  The police, however, neither confirmed nor denied whether Kiran has been stealing costly vehicles to sell
them in shady markets of Mumbai.

Sources at the showroom said Kiran had identified as Tahir Ali and produced his driving licence and credit card to take a test drive. He even promised the salesman  that he would buy the iconic vehicle immediately.
