Upset over illness, cop ends life

A 53-year-old head constable committed suicide by hanging himself at the police quarters in Rajajinagar in the early hours of Friday.

According to the police, K M Mayanna, a head constable attached to Banaswadi traffic police station, was depressed over his poor health condition. The incident came to light on Friday morning when his family members found him hanging inside a room.

Mayanna was hospitalised some days ago and he was suffering from many health ailments. Even after being discharged from the hospital he developed a swelling on his right hand.

When he visited the hospital again, doctors had asked him to get an X-ray done.

Mayanna was depressed due to his ill-health, added the police. His body has been sent for post-mortem. Rajajinagar police have registered a case.
