Girl hurls chair at drunk intrude

A girl beat a drunk man who had sneaked into her house at Kirloskar Colony in Peenya early on Friday morning. She hurled a chair at him and let out a loud scream, drawing her two roommates and neighbours.

The man, whom the police are looking for, had sneaked into the house around 4 am by opening the latch of the door through a window. The girl, a native of Jharkhand, was terrified at seeing him. She started screaming but the intruder tightly put his hand over her mouth, muffling her voice.

The victim pushed him, making him trip on a table. She then hurled a chair at him. She followed this up with incessant screaming. Her two roommates came out of their rooms and tried to nab the intruder but he managed to flee, a senior police officer said.

The girls, who are studying at an engineering college in the City, alerted the neighbours who went around hunting for him but in vain. The police were called later. “We have got his description from the victim. It’s unclear whether he intended to commit a crime,” he said.
