Roshan Seth film opens in UK

A film about a father-son clash with Indian actor Roshan Seth in the central role released to good reviews across UK cinemas this week.

"Brahmin Bulls", which won the Audience Award at the San Diego Film Festival and has done all the major film festival rounds around the world, opened here on Friday.
The partly autobiographical tale has been written and directed by Mahesh Pailoor, a Los Angeles based Indian-origin filmmaker.

"This is a film by a first time filmmaker who has been through the equivalent of climbing Everest to get this script off the ground.

"I really wish it works for him. He rewrote the entire script to make sure I would play the role of the father," said Seth, best known for playing Jawaharlal Nehru in "Bharat Ek Khoj".

The film, which stars Hollywood actor Sendhil Ramamurthy as the son, traces a tumultuous relationship between the two set against the backdrop of the Indian American immigrant experience.

"The first generation Indian American went through a pretty tragic experience of being plucked out of their native soil and planted elsewhere. It would be good if this film finds distribution in India because it highlights how the migrant experience is not the same everywhere," he added.

Seth will be next be seen in "City of Tiny Lights", which is set in London.
"I am very excited about that one. It is about London and set in London. It is great that now in my advancing years, I am able to do work of a fairly high standard. It is an immensely satisfying feeling," he said.
