KSPCB to provide three mobile immersion tanks for Ganesha fest

The regulatory body lists out do's and don'ts for celebration

The Mysuru regional office of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) will deploy three mobile immersion water tanks from 4 pm to 10.30 pm from September 17 (Thursday) to September 20 for the benefit of people who install the idols of Ganesha and Gowri.

While the first vehicle carrying the tank will be stationed near Metagalli Police Station from 4 pm to 5.15 pm, it will be parked at KD Circle in Vijaynagar 2nd Stage from 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm, near Vontikoppal Chandramoulishwara temple from 7 pm to 8.15 pm and at the main entrance of Kukkarahalli Lake from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

The second vehicle will be available from 4 pm to 5.15 pm near Vikram Hospital in Udayagiri, near Shanthala theatre from 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm, Chamundipuram Circle from 7 pm to 8.15 pm and finally at the main entrance of Karanji Lake from 8.30 pm to
10.30 pm.

The third vehicle will be stationed near Jayamma Govindegowda Kalyana Mantapa at Kuvempu Nagar from 4 pm to 5.15 pm, near Jayanagar  Railway Gate from 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm, near JP Nagar Gobbali Mara bus stop from 7 pm to 8.15 pm and at the main entrance of Lingambhudi Lake, via Srirampura, from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

Residents near the
aforementioned parking points and surrounding areas, who install the idols of Ganesha and Gowri, can take the idols for immersion in the tanks at the scheduled time.

Donts
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has also appealed to the people to follow a few guidelines in view of checking water pollution due to immersion of Ganesha and Gowri idols during the festival.

Install small clay idols
painted with natural colours derived from leaves, flowers, vegetables and fruits; avoid use of plastic and polymer articles at home and also, at public mantapas for decoration and other purposes.

Do not immerse the idols in wells, ponds and lakes; remove flowers, clothes and other
decorative items before immersion; immerse the idols in mobile immersion tanks arranged by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board or the City Corporation.

Further, the guidelines says that do not light crackers; do not litter public places, roads and drainages with flowers, garlands and other waste generated due to the festival; and do not use loud speakers from 10 pm to 6 am keeping the interest of people in mind.
