Cab driver peeps into tent, thrashed by public

Alert public thrashed an Ola cab driver trying to gain entry into a makeshift tent where a woman was sleeping at Ashwath Nagar in Sanjay Nagar in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to police, Ola cab driver Sadiq Pasha, a resident of Govindapura, while driving in Ashwath Nagar at 3.30 am, noticed a makeshift tent. He halted his vehicle and peeped inside the tent.

 Upon noticing a woman sleeping, he tried to gain entry inside the tent.

In the meantime, the woman woke up, spotted Sadiq and began screaming.

 A frightened Sadiq tried to flee the spot. Passersby heard her screams and rushed to the tent.

When the woman, a pot vendor, informed that the public what Sadiq was upto, they caught hold of him and thrashed him black and blue before handing him over to the police.

Woman’s claim
According to a senior police officer the victim claimed that he had tried to rape her. However, Sadiq stated that he was on  night duty and was feeling drowsy.

He parked his vehicle on the roadside and went to attend nature’s call near the tent where the woman was asleep. On seeing him, the woman began screaming. When he tried to enquire her why she was screaming, he was roughed up by the public, the driver claimed.

The public informed the police that the accused had consumed alcohol or might have been under the influence of drugs. Sadiq has been sent for a medical examination.

A case has been registered at the Sanjay Nagar police station and investigation is on.
