BJP to release Bihar vision document

Last Updated 30 September 2015, 19:43 IST

The BJP will present the NDA’s vision document on Bihar’s development ahead of Assembly polls on Thursday, with party chief Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley among other leaders  expected to release it in Patna.

By deciding to release vision document instead of manifesto, which ethically binds the BJP to deliver promises made, the party adopted a strategy similar to what it did in previous Assembly polls in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.

The vision document will be released in Patna at 1 pm, confirmed a BJP leader.
Party sources said that the vision document will focus on NDA’s determination of developing  state, given Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong belief that the country can progress only if the eastern region advances.

The special package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore will also figure in the vision document to lend authenticity to NDA’s thinking of taking the state outside backward club.  The document will have sector wise incentives and schemes that NDA intends to offer if it returns to power.

The party will also clear its stand that it is not against caste-based reservation – as opponents are making it out since RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that affirmative action on the basis of caste should be reviewed which has generated lot of political heat.
Though the BJP had immediately distanced itself from Bhagwat’s statement and the RSS had subsequently clarified that the meaning drawn from comment was not correct, the Sangh chief had himself reiterated it a few days later.

BJP chief Amit Shah, who is camping in Patna since Tuesday, again reiterated party stand on Wednesday to contain damage that “We support current reservation policy and we are against any kind of reconsideration on this matter”.

The rival grand alliance has already announced its vision document, with Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar giving much thrust on wooing women and youth – a segment of voters.
