Anxious not to let the desire for change affect the performance of the government just voted back to power, new comers Agatha Sangma,  Sachin Pilot , RPN Singh, Pradeep Jain , Prateek Patil, RPN Singh, and Arun Yadav will be “trained” before the leadership would effect a change of guard.
Support for these youngsters could be closer home, as many of their parents are also ministers in the government. Those like Jyotiraditya Scindia and Jitin Prasad, who have spent one term as ministers, can also help fresh entrants.
Rahul Gandhi’s decision to stay out from the cabinet may put back the change of guard, but the leadership has certainly signalled its intention to move forward by excluding loyalists Arjun Singh , H R Bhardwaj and Shivraj Patil and ushering in new faces in their place. Their urge for creativity has also been curtailed by ‘compulsions’ of coalition politics.
With fathers and sons gaining membership to the council of ministers, “cabinet consultations” could acquire a different meaning. Those like Farooq Abdullah can turn either to his son-in-law Sachin Pilot, or, better even, to his son Umer Abdullah for discussions.
There is little to wonder about get togethers of the seven DMK ministers, as it would surely look like a ‘mini cabinet’ in itself. There will also be no problems as for the agenda, with their patriarch -”Kalaignar”- getting ready to relay their scripts from far away Chennai.
In the end, a good look at the ministers is sure to reveal that succession and generational change are things happening more inside political families!!
