Try this simple recipe: Take two cupfuls of rose petals and remove the white bases from them. Then stir the petals into 600 ml of milk and let it boil nicely. Then let it stand for two hours. Now strain it through a muslin cloth. Add two beaten egg yolks and sweeten with sugar to make it as sweet as you like it. Heat this mix while stirring but do not let it boil. Your ice cream is ready. Just let it cool and then put it in a pretty coloured or white bowl in the freezer! You can add a few fresh red or orange or yellow rose petals over the ice cream for a rosy design!

You can even make rose petal jam by making a syrup. Boil two kg. of sugar with one litre of water. Add 500 g of rose petals, of your favourite colour, and the juice from two lemons which will make the jam set nicely. Pour in a little rose water for flavour and simmer until the jam thickens. Pour it into a lovely bottle or jar and seal it.
Keep roses safe from pests: if your parents use chemicals to kill pests that attack roses show them this safer method.

Plant garlic around your rose bushes. They will keep pests away. Put used tea leaves (sugarless) around your rose bushes. They will grow healthy with this tea treat!
