A team of engineering students from the City are all set to race their solar-powered car at the World Solar Challenge (WSC) in Australia.

The team from RV College of Engineering built a solar car for the event, to be held from October 18 to 25, and will take part in a 3,000-km race from Darwin to Adelaide.
The team has put in over two years of work to design and build the car, according to an official release.

The students managed expenses through sponsors who supported their initiative.
The team is the first of its kind from the country to be taking part in the event. This is also the first team to which Sun Power, USA, sponsored solar cells.

Companies like TCS and Wipro also pitched in for the initiative, stated the students.
