A fine all-round performance from Yere Goud set up Visveswarapuram Cricket Club’s (2) 96-run victory over Southern Cricketers in the KSCA Group I, Division IV, league cum knockout tournament for Metro Shield here.
Goud first slammed an unbeaten 135 to steer Visveswarapuram CC (2) to a massive 315 for four in their alloted 50 overs. Bharath Ramesh (43) and Nithin G Mulki (44 n.o.) also contributed in Visveswarapuram’s run fest. For Southern Cricketers, Varun (5/41) turned out to be the most successful bowler.
Goud then returned with figures of four for 44 to help his side skittle out Southern Cricketers for 219 in 47.2 overs. Saikumar top scored for Southern Cricketers with 43, but it wasn’t enough to help his team cross the target.
In another game, IISc Gymkhana recorded a massive 216-run win over Oriental Cricket Club. IISc had posted a mammoth 301/ 4 in their 50 overs, with Santosh leading their charge with a well timed 84. In reply, Oriental CC could only manage 85 before being bowled out in the 19th over.
