Actress Bipasha Basu is gearing up to take her brand new image of the Horror Queen to the small screen with a new TV series Darr Sabko Lagta Hai. The actress opens up about her love, marriage and her current beau Karan Singh Grover.

Like most of her contemporaries, the actress has also taken to television at the fag end of her career. “I have been eyeing the small screen for the last few years, but could not zero in on good content. I wanted to go in for something apart from the usual. I love watching reality shows but every other actress is hosting and judging them,” she says.

Initially, Bipasha reveals that she had planned to do a fitness-based show but realised it would garner select audience. “When the channel came up with Darr Sabko Lagta Hai, I was kicked about it. The show is an assortment of short films which have been directed by contemporary filmmakers so the content and visuals are great and there is nothing tacky about it. The films will be linked to one another and I will be integrated as Bipasha Basu in all the films,” she explains.

The actress, who was initially tagged as the sexy siren of Bollywood, has now become the horror queen. “Age has nothing to do with being and looking sexy. Clint Eastwood is so sexy at 80 that even a 20-year-old guy won’t be able to match his sex appeal. Also, women are like wine, they get better with age,” she says mischievously, adding, “Besides I am happy with every title that I get. No one has been called the horror queen so far. People are desperate to make it big in the industry and you get a tag only when you perform well.”

While all is fine on the professional front, her personal life is rife with rumours about her relationship with actor Karan Singh Grover. But she clarifies that he is a friend and there is no film on the anvil with him. “I am doing a film but Karan isn’t in it. If we get the right script, may be we will do a movie together. You will have to wait and watch,” she winks.

When asked if she has ever been afraid of falling in love, Bipasha says, “Actually love is both good and bad, fun and not so fun. Most people have experienced it so I am sure they know what I am talking about. My mantra in life is ‘love yourself’ first. I love myself the most. I accept my needs and I live to satisfy them. People ask me why I am out of work, where I have vanished, why I am constantly on a break. Well, it is my life and I can do what I like with my money. There has to be more to life than work.”

And, what about marriage? “Do all successful women want to get married? I have grown up believing in the institution of marriage. My parents are the most beautiful couple in love ever and they have had a great married life. But the other marriages that I see around me have not been  inspirational at all. For every two successful marriages, there are 10 disturbing ones. So I will wait for the right time. When it has to happen, it will happen,” she concludes.

Darr Sabko Lagta Hai will be telecast at 10 pm on weekends, on &tv.
