Youth killed for revenge, two caught

Last Updated 03 November 2015, 03:01 IST

A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death for humiliating a labourer at northwest Delhi’s Wazirpur Industrial Area last month.

The victim had thrashed the accused and threatened to kill him. He was later taken to the jungle near New Usmanpur and killed by the labourer and his brother-in-law, police said on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Santosh Kumar, 22, and Sanoj Ram, 23.

They were held after Ashok Vihar-resident Bahadur Mandal approached police reporting that his son Nitish was missing.

“Bahadur stated that Nitish had gone to Haryana’s Faridabad district with his friend Santosh, but did not return home,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Vijay Singh.

Later, Bahadur’s brother Deen Mohan told police that Nitish may have been abducted by Santosh.

On his statement, a case under section 365 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code was registered with Ashok Vihar police station.

During investigation, efforts were made to trace Santosh, but no clue came to the fore regarding his whereabouts.

A non-bailable warrant was also obtained, but he remained absconding.

On Sunday, police were informed that Santosh would visit Wazirpur Industrial Area.

Accordingly, a trap was laid and Santosh was apprehended on Sunday evening.

On being questioned, Santosh revealed that he along with his brother-in-law Sanoj had killed Nitish.

“Santosh revealed that Nitish had thrashed Sanoj in the presence of several known persons in Wazirpur Industrial Area and threatened him to kill in April 2014,” Singh added.

Sanoj had mentioned this humiliating incident when Santosh arrived in Delhi from his native place in Bihar.

They then hatched a conspiracy to kill Nitish for revenge. Santosh took Nitish from Wazirpur Industrial Area on the pretext of arranging a better job in Ballabhgarh.

“Nitish was, however, taken to the jungle near New Usmanpur, where Sanoj was present. Santosh stabbed Nitish and crushed his head with a stone,” Singh said.
