Karnataka State Women’s Commission chairperson Manjula Manasa on Wednesday said police and other departments should be people-friendly when it comes to women’s grievances.

Chairing a meeting to discuss measures taken by various departments to check atrocities on women here, she said the officials should console the victims when they visits women’s police station or various departments seeking assistance.  There is a need to create awareness on the welfare programmes meant for women, she added.

She said that the officials should visit tribal colonies and create awareness on education among women. Deputy Commissioner Meer Anees Ahmmed said all the officials have a responsibility to provide justice to those who are neglected in the society.

Zilla Panchayat CEO M Kurma Rao said officials have been asked to install CCTV cameras at workplaces. DCP Rajashekar said helplines have been opened in all the police stations. The complaints by women are taken seriously and FIRs are registered, he added.
