As the Northeast Monsoon is vigorous over South India, a depression along the Arabian Sea is also threatening Kerala and Karnataka with weathermen predicting more rain in southern states in the next 48 hours.
“The depression over east central Arabian sea, which moved westward at a speed of 22 kmph in the past six hours, has intensified into deep depression and lay centered about 1,020 kms west of Mumbai. It will move westwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours,” a senior Met official told Deccan Herald on Thursday evening. He said heavy rain would occur at most places over Kerala, Lakshadweep.
