The Karnataka State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has registered a suo motu case against senior IAS officer Kapil Mohan for “possessing” child pornographic material in his house.

Chairperson of the Commission, Dr Kripa Alva, registered the case and also issued summons under the Commission For Protection for Child Rights Act, 2005, section 14(1)(a).

“The commission has also asked for the inquiry report from the DCP North,” the commission said.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Alwa said that it was a routine affair as the matter had come to light through the media.

“He has been asked to appear before the commission on November 18,” she added.  Mohan was found “possessing” the pornographic material when the Lokayukta recently conducted a raid on the sixth floor flat of Maple Block in Golden Grand properties at Yeshwanthpura on August 5.

Later, on Thursday an FIR was registered under the Information Technology (IT) Act for the same.

The Lokayukta police were probing disproportionate assets case against the
1990-batch IAS officer when they found the material.
