Director: Vijay Kiran

Pakka entertainment. So goes Ram Leela’s tantalising tagline. Thankfully, to most extent, debutant director Vijay Kiran’s film lives up to its promise.

A remake of Telugu film Loukyam, Vijay Kiran didn’t have to sweat in providing a decent entertainer, except tinkering a bit here and there. Faithfully following the already laid template, he ensures that all essential ingredients fall in place for a pot-pourri entertainment the audiences so thirst for.

Lavishly mounted and knitted with a fast-paced narrative, the romcom ensures families can have a good time at movies this festive season.

The plot is no great shakes. It revolves around Ram who abducts a don’s sister to help her unite with her lover. Needless to say, the infuriated don and his meanies are out to get Ram. In the meanwhile, Ram blissfully courts the other sister of the don — unaware of it — compounding the man’s agony.

How Ram ingratiates himself with the don, hiding his identity, and ensures the don marries off his sisters to their respective beaus, forms the rest of Ram Leela.

With its comic situations, twists and turns, and aided by Bharani K Dharani’s captivating cinematography, Ram Leela turns out a delight for those seeking a light fare to lighten their spirits.
