Scholarships worth Rs 20 lakh were given to 194 deserving candidates on the occasion of the celebration of the 24th Founder’s Day by the CMR (Chikka Muniyappa Reddy) Group here.

Along with the memorial merit and sports scholarships, leadership awards were also presented to the selected students by CMR Jnanadhara Trust at the event held on Thursday.
Former Indian hockey player Ashish Kumar Ballal, who graced the event, said the City lacked playgrounds. “I request the government to provide ample space for children to play. Any government-notified land available should be converted into playground for the benefit of our youth.”

Referring to the scholarship distribution, Ballal said: “I wish we had such scholarships during my time. With that money, I could have easily afforded a sports kit.”

President of CMR Jnanadhara Trust and Chancellor, CMR University, Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy, and former minister for higher education Aravind Limbavali were present.
