Prostitution ring busted

The Cubbon Park police raided a flat at an apartment on Lavelle Road on Saturday and rescued two girls from a prostitution ring.

Based on a tip-off, the police raided the flat and arrested three men identified as Basavaraj, Naveen and Shankar who were operating the racket.

The suspects had brought the girls, hailing from Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, to the City promising them ‘decent jobs’, but pushed them into prostitution, the police said. They uploaded the pictures of the girls on the Internet and also sent their photographs to potential clients. The owner of the apartment is absconding.

Sandip Patil, DCP (Central), said: “We request neighbours to alert us on finding anything suspicious happening around them and their details will be kept confidential.”
