TV actor detained for drunk driving

A popular television serial actor was taken into custody for drunk driving and for obstructing the traffic policemen from discharging their duties early on Tuesday morning. However, the actor was released later and his vehicle was seized.

The incident occurred around 1.30 am at Minerva Circle when Mahesh, a resident of Vijayanagar and an actor in the popular tele serial ‘Putta Gowri Maduve’, was travelling by his Swift car along with his three friends.

The City Market traffic police, who were conducting a drive to catch drunk drivers, stopped the car and tried to subject him to an alcometer test.

He refused to take the test and shouted at the police. He claimed that he was a popular actor and a celebrity and the police were insulting him.  He picked a fight with the constables, said the police. 

The Kalasipalya police rushed to the spot after being informed and the actor fought with them as well. 

However, the police subjected him to the test and he was found to be inebriated, added the police.

The police seized the car and told him to approach the court to get it back, said the police.
