35-yr-old man kills himself after tiff with wife

The vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karawal Nagar zone hanged himself at his house on Tuesday, police said.

Ravindra Kumar Chauhan, 35, left a suicide note in which he blamed his wife and in-laws for taking the extreme step. Investigators were told that Ravindra had a marital discord with his wife. Ravindra’s father is a head constable with Delhi Police.

Three months ago, Ravindra’s wife had shifted to her parent’s house with their two-year-old daughter and was not ready to return. The couple had frequent arguments. For the past few days, Ravindra had been requesting her to return home, but to no avail. “He was under depression,” said a police officer.

Ravindra lived with family at Ram Vihar Gali Number-4 and worked with a private automobile company. His family told police that he had married a woman from south Delhi’s Chhatarpur in 2005. “The relationship between the couple was not good after marriage. They often argued or fought over minor issues,” the officer added.

Since the woman left the house following a heated argument, Ravindra had been asking her to return home. He had also requested his in-laws. On Tuesday, Ravindra called his wife over phone and repeatedly requested her to come back home with their child. “His wife turned down his requests,” the officer said.

On Tuesday evening, Ravindra’s family found him hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom and raised an alarm. Ravindra was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
