Last Updated 03 December 2015, 07:21 IST

Web Summit, recognised by Forbes for staging “the best technology conferences on the planet”, is entering India on February 23, 2016, with its Indian edition SURGE.

With 300 startups and 2,000 delegates already registered, SURGE 2016 is set to host around 4,000 attendees and 500 startups. “In the second-fastest growing startup ecosystem, the conference has made an opportune arrival,” said Vikram Ahuja, founder of Byond Travel, who has participated in the previous editions of Web Summit. “What Indian startups lack is access to market and a global footprint. The way that the conference has been set up, it addresses these challenges,” he added.

Paddy Cosgrave, co-founder of Web Summit, said: “SURGE is a truly global technology conference.” He added, “Geography is history. Web Summit events bring together startups, investors and experts from across the globe, and the key differentiator for SURGE is the improved serendipity in bringing them together.”

The conference has already found speakers in Sachin Bansal of Flipkart, Rohit Bansal of Snapdeal, Greg Moran of Zoomcar, and Nicolas Brusson of BlaBlaCar, among others.
Founded in 2010 by Paddy Cosgrave, Daire Hickey, and David Kelly, Web Summit has launched international events Collision in the US and RISE in Hong Kong in 2015.
