Driver held for vehicle theft

The Talaghattapura police arrested a driver for stealing a high-end model car and four bikes and seized the vehicles. The suspect is Lakshmikanth, 28, a resident of Talaghattapura.

He had joined a travel agency recently which operated vehicles to pick up and drop professionals working at ITPL. He changed the GPRS device of the car and fled with the vehicle, police said.

The travel agency owner lodged a complaint with the Talaghattapura police after Lakshmikanth failed to turn up at the office. On a tip-off, the police arrested Lakshmikanth from his house.

During interrogation, he revealed that he had stolen four bikes along with his friend Harish. The police are on the lookout for Harish.

In another case, the police arrested Ram Kumar, 27, and Gopichand, 20, both residents of Kariyannanapalya and natives of Assam. They were employed as security guards at Brigade Omega Apartment. A huge quantity of electrical materials was stored for the upcoming project of Brigade Omega near Turahalli forest area. They decamped with the materials on November 29, police said.  Based on a complaint, the police arrested them and seized the stolen materials worth Rs 15 lakh and a goods vehicle.
