Winning laurels

The team from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School was adjudged the ‘Best Delegation’ in the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference which was held in New Delhi.

The delegation from 11th standard consisted of Udit Srivastava, Sajeev Srivatsava, Sachit Ram, Ayman Hashmi, Srinthan Hampi, Abhinav Dutt, Suhas Krishnamoorthy, Ronith Evander and Mihir Nenawath.

The winners were Udit Srivastava— ‘Best Delegate in the Disarmament and International Security Committee’;  Sajeev Srivatsava — ‘Best Delegate in the Historic Human Rights Council’; Sachit Ram — ‘Best Delegate in the Special Political and Decolonization Committee’; Ayman Hashmi — ‘Best Delegate in the Syrian and Constellis Council of 2020’; Abhinav Dutt — ‘Honourable Mention in the United Nations Security Council’; Srinthan Hampi —‘Verbal Commendation in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’; Suhas Krishnamoorthy — ‘Verbal Commendation in the Reconstructing Russia Council’; Ronith Evander, in the Legal Committee and Mihir Nenawath, member of the International Press.

The Ivy League Model United Nations Conference began in 1973 and has been held in different countries since then.

This year the conference witnessed delegates from all over the world debating and discussing some of the most pertinent and pressing issues in today’s world. The team from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School represented the United States of America at this conference and were adjudged the Best Delegation for the third consecutive time and hence, achieved a feat matched by no other school before.

The conference was conducted and judged by the students and faculty of the University of Pennsylvania. The award was declared after four days of gruelling debate, competing with over 450 delegates of elite schools from all over the world including schools from Germany, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
