Japanese two-wheeler giant Honda made a big entrance into the latest starting grid of Indian motorcycling bliss, the new race involving machines christened the ‘street bike’.

On Thursday evening, at a tranquil beach in Goa, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) introduced the new Honda CB Hornet 160R, which is expected to take the street bike realm to an all-new level.

The company had declared its intent to launch 15 new products this year, and the launch of the CB Hornet 160R brings Honda’s India carnival to a grand finale in 2015, as it brings down curtains on an eventful year.

Addressing reporters at the launch, Keita Muramatsu, President and Chief Executive Officer of HMSI, said: “The Honda CB Hornet 160R will herald a new era of street naked biking in India. The bike is meant to become a faster, smarter, and sportier marvel on two wheels, best suited for the youth of India, who are ambitious and confident.”

The CB Hornet 160R is powered by a 163 cc engine, built on the company’s tested and trusted Honda Eco Technology (HET), offering good performance, with even better mileage.

Available in five colours, and two variants — single disc and dual disc with Combi Brake System (CBS) — the new Honda is priced at Rs 79,900 onwards (ex-showroom Delhi).

Targeted at the youth, the new bike is a convergence of power, style, design, and also claims to meet BS-IV norms. The bike sets a new benchmark to styling, with its sharp and edgy headlight and X-shaped LED tail light. The muscular tank adds more value to the macho machine.

On the safety front too, the new motorcycle offers reliable innovations such as the Combi Brake System (CBS), apart from a 3-Pot brake calliper for braking efficiency.

The CB Hornet 160R will initially be available for sale in 21 locations, including metros and big cities. The bike can also be booked through a specially made Android mobile app.
