Accumulation of knowledge is not the only purpose of education. Real education should remove ignorance and should bring upon a transformation that serves the purpose of life. Commitment to self and others is a stepping stone to success, said Sukhabodhananda Swami, founder, Prasanna Trust, Bengaluru.

He was speaking after inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of the SDM College at Ujire on Thursday. “One should find happiness in what they have, than anticipating it in the future. Education should be able to guide an individual to solve problems. Creativity, happiness and the ultimate bliss should be the fruits of education. Association with noble people, love, faith and service will bring enthusiasm in life,” he opined.

College Founder Principal Prof S Prabhakar and Office Manager T Ramachandra Navada were felicitated on the occasion.

Minister for Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fisheries, K Abhayachandra Jain, MLA K Vasantha Bangera, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor K Byrappa spoke on the occasion.

Presiding over the programme, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said, the college had been playing a vital role in shaping the future of students in rural areas.

SDM College Principal Dr B Yashovarma, Vice Principal Prof K S Mohananarayana, Hemavathi V Heggade, D Surendra Kumar, D Harshendra Kumar, D Rajendra Kumar, Anitha Surendra Kumar and Supriya Harshendra Kumar were present.
