Four men arrested for kidnapping student

Four men have been arrested for kidnapping a PU student recently from Yelahanka New Town.

The suspects have been identified as Naveenkumar, 22, a diploma holder and resident of Bettahalasur; Ajith, 21, also a diploma holder, and resident of Vidyaranyapura; Edwin, 24, of Doddabommasandra, and Damodhar, 20, of Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

The police have seized a Ford Figo Zoom Car, a Maruti Omni van, two Honda Activa scooters, a Pulsar bike and four mobile phones from them. During interrogation, the suspects revealed they had kidnapped Vaidyanath, whose father is a realtor and businessman, for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. They said the wanted to settle for Rs 15 lakh, give Rs 2 lakh to Damodhar, and share Rs 13 lakh equally among the rest, said the police.

Vaidyanath, 17, a resident of Bettahalasuru, was kidnapped on December 28 morning from Harohalli lake area, while he was on the way to Nagarajuna PU College at Ramagondanahalli on his two-wheeler along with his friend Nitish.

Nitish informed the police about the abduction and the police formed a team which rescued the victim from an eucalyptus grove near Doddaballapur,Hesaraghatta Road, Kodihalli, said the police.

Attempt to molest
An man attempted to molest a nine-year-old girl in JJ Nagar police limits on Wednesday. The incident took place when the girl’s parents, both labourers, had gone out for work, said the police.

The suspect barged into the house, threatened the girl and tried to molest her. But, he ran out of the house as the girl raised an alarm, police said. She narrated the incident after her parents came home. The police registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the mother of the girl.
