Multi venues for NSG

The National School Games would now be organised on a bigger scale to promote and develop sports at the grassroots, it was announced by the Sports Ministry on Saturday.

The Ministry said the directive has come from the Union Government according to which the National School Games would now be held at four to five venues each year. Towards that the Department of Sports would be working alongside School Games Federation of India (SGFI).

“Union Government has decided to organise National School Games in a big way at four to five venues in the country every year. The objective is to ensure proper promotion and development of various games at the school level with the twin objectives of early identification of talent and ensuring physical fitness of children,” Ministry release stated.

“For the purpose of efficient organisation of the National School Games, the Department of Sports is joining hands with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) for the conduct of the games and with the selected state governments for infrastructure.

It is expected that participation of large number of children in the proposed National School Games from various parts of the country will not only contribute to the objective of sports promotion but also national unity and harmony. The National School Games would be organised in Kerala this month.
