Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said making social security schemes accessible to unorganised sector workers was a major challenge, which the Government was committed to address in the Budget this year.
He said that to make health and social security benefits accessible to unorganised sector workers like construction workers, migrant labourers, volunteers of different schemes like Anganwadi workers were one of the major priorities of the government.
He said this in his pre-Budget meeting with trade unions. Most of the Trade Union representatives gave a joint memorandum to the Finance Minister containing suggestions for the forthcoming Union Budget 2016-17.
