The government is expecting more than 30,000 people on Sunday. On Saturday, the exhibition showcasing the works of various departments will be inaugurated.

Transport Minister R Ashok, who inspected the venue, told reporters that the State government will launch ten major schemes on Sunday to celebrate the anniversary.

Replying to a question on lavish show to mark one year in the office, the minister said such functions are not uncommon and Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has resolved to hold such functions once in a year in the State to launch schemes and dedicate it to the people.

More buses

He added that his department too will launch 25 buses in the City, exclusively meant for the weaker section of society. The scheme may be named as ‘Namma Bus Nimma Slum Ge’ (Our buses in your slums).

“The rich class has air-conditioned Volvo buses, the middle class has Suvarna buses but the labour class has no such facility. For them we are launching the new buses, where the rates will be quite cheap,” the minister said.

Security has been beefed up all around the ground and the traffic police are working on making arrangements to avoid any traffic congestion due to the function.
