'Required quantity of medicines have been supplied to hospitals'

Addressing a news conference on Thursday, he said that he has learnt that doctors are still forwarding the patients to medical store to get medicines despite the Government providing all medicines and facilities required in the hospitals. He said that the Government has supplied required quantity of medicines to all hospitals and if department receives complaints on shortage of medicines then necessary actions will be taken. “About 60 per cent posts in the state for doctors are vacant and steps have already been taken to appoint doctors. Chief Minister has promised to provide permission for appointment of 2000 doctors, in the coming budget,” he said and informed that as many as 1377 doctors have been appointed. He lamented that medical professionals are not willing to join Government job even after offering a salary of Rs 50,000. There are plans to amend the rules and go for direct recruitment.

He said that the ‘108’ ambulance service of the state government has bagged outstanding response and so far as many as 1 crore people have availed the benefits of this service. Lives of over 4 lakh people has been saved due to the timely service of ‘108’ ambulance. More than half of the cases have been delivery cases. “There is plan to start ‘104’ ambulance service with mobile hospital and laboratory service,” he informed.
