<p>A container lorry rammed into a couple of electricity poles resulting in power outage in Mahadevapura in the early hours of Friday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to police, around 4 am, the driver of the container lorry lost control over the vehicle when he was taking a turn to go towards Singaiahanapalya and rammed into an electricity pole. <br /><br />The driver could not stop the vehicle and rammed into another electricity pole and the vehicle before coming to a halt. The electric wires were pulled down by the lorry bringing down more poles with them. <br /><br />There was no power in Mahadevapura for around eight hours. <br /><br />The passersby alerted the police who rushed to the spot and found the poles that had been pulled down. <br /><br />They informed officials of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) who immediately cut the power supply. <br /><br />The driver of the container lorry fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle. A case has been registered against him for rash and negligent driving. <br /><br />The power supply in the area was restored only in the evening, said the police.<br /><br />The Bescom officials said the accident caused a loss of Rs eight lakh to the company. They will now have to take up restoration work.<br /> </p>
