Cottons, Joseph's triumphant

A collective effort from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School saw them beat Ebenezer International School, Bangalore by 21 runs in the finals and clinch the title in the under-15 category of the 59th Cottonian Shield Cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

Batting first, Bishop Cotton rode on knocks from Suraj (62) and Aneesh (67) to post a competitive total of 168 for seven in 20 overs. Ahan (2/19) claimed two wickets for EISB.

In response, EISB were restricted to 147 for seven in 20 overs, with Mahantesh (31) and Sanjay (27) showing stomach to the fight. Tarun with figures of three for 23 did most of the damage while Amogh (2/29) also was amongst the wickets for Cottonians.

Meanwhile, in the U-13 finals, Chinmay (50) slammed a half century as St Joseph’s Boys High School overcame hosts Bishop Cotton Boys’ School by 22 runs to bag emerge champions.

U-13: St Joseph’s Boys High School: 117/6 in 20 overs (Chinmay 50, Akash 28; Abhay 2-13) bt Bishop Cotton Boys’ School: 95/9 in 20 overs.
