Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticised former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy for trying to misguide the people by highlighting petty issues.

Addressing media persons at the helipad in Hanur on Tuesday, he said, Kumaraswamy was issuing statements that he would produce the documents related to the watch issue, but he will not do it. His statements are like ‘hit-and-run’ cases, he ridiculed.

ConfidenceAddressing a public meeting, here, in view of the upcoming Zilla and Taluk Panchayat polls, on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah exuded confidence that the Congress would secure a majority in 20 out of 30 districts in the State.

The chief minister targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that his true colour was out for everyone to see. “He had been raining assurances, attracting people, but he has failed to announce any pro-farmer programmes so far. Modi has been announcing that more funds were being released to the states, but in reality, he has slashed funds that were meant for the welfare of the poor,” Siddaramaiah said.

Modi has failed to keep up his promise of bring back black money from foreign countries. The Centre is yet to release Rs 4,089 crore for the State. In spite of 3,800 farmers committing suicide in Maharashtra and 1,000 farmers in Karnataka, the prime minister has failed to release additional funds, Siddaramaiah added.
