The ashes of Harish, the youth who expressed his death wish to donate organs, was immersed at Paschimavahini, Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya district, on Thursday.

It may be mentioned that the death of Harish (23), a native of Keregowdanahalli, Gubbi taluk, Tumakuru district, shocked the people as a video clip of him lying in a pool of blood, with his body severed into two parts after a lorry ran over him at Nelamangala on February 16, went viral.

But, even during his last moments, he had pleaded for eye and organ donation and had even called his friends and family informing about it. As per his last wish, the eyes were donated to Narayana Netralaya, in Bengaluru.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, during the ritual, when his ashes were immersed in River Cauvery at Paschimavahini here, his mother Geetha, who was inconsolable, said, he had come to the village for casting his vote for the ZP elections and left for Bengaluru, never to return.
