The placement season in a number of B-schools is not even over, yet many have already placed most of their students.

Take the Alliance School of Business under Alliance University for instance. Of the total 550 students in its MBA programme, 70 per cent have already been placed with an average salary package of around Rs 6.5 lakh per annum.

“The rest of the students will be placed in the second phase of the placement process that will start soon. The highest salary package that has been offered so far is Rs 14.2 lakh per annum from a banking and financial research firm,” said Matthew Thankachan, director (placements), Alliance School of Business. Most of the recruitments have been made by companies from the banking and financial sector, technology and product services companies.

Similarly, at the RV Institute of Management, 70 per cent of a batch of 148 students have already been placed, said Payal Jindal, assistant professor and placement officer of the college.

“The salary package has been increasing every year and so far, the highest salaries offered are in the range of Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. Companies from the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) sector, IT and banking have been the biggest recruiters,” she said. The rest of the students would be recruited around July.

At the TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal, the goal has always been to place all students before the final semester exams that take place in March, said Dr R C Natarajan, director of the institute.

The institute has already placed 100 per cent of its 428 students from the batch of 2014-16. The students belong to three different programmes, including the postgraduate diploma course in management.

“The placements started a bit late this year. We place at least 95 per cent of the students in the first week of the placement process,”  Natarajan said. According to a release from TAPMI, the average salary package this time increased to Rs 9.23 lakh from last year’s Rs 8.75 lakh.
