Drunk man stabs friend to death

A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death by his friend near a football ground in Devarjeevanahalli on Saturday night, police said.

Police have identified the deceased as Shoaib Khan, a tailor and resident of Sonnappa Garden in Devarjeevanahalli, and arrested his friend Shabaz, 19, his neighbour.

Police said that around 9 pm, Shabaz, a labourer, was creating a ruckus in an inebriated state near his house and abusing Khan's friends. Khan warned him against creating trouble and asked Shabaz to go home.

An enraged Shabaz started abusing Khan and the two exchanged blows. They then decided to settle the matter and went near the football ground. In a fit of rage, Shabaz pulled out a knife and stabbed Khan repeatedly. Khan's friend immediately informed the police and shifted im to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.

Shabaz was arrested while he was trying to escape and is being interrogated. A case has been registered at Devarjeevanahalli police station.
