Lush green view and sunset table

Last Updated 30 March 2016, 18:31 IST
A restaurant which is not intimidating, but inviting, it goes by the name  Locale. As the name suggests, it is like a neighbourhood café and bar, with pocket-friendly prices on food and drinks.

Such bars are called for in South Delhi, which is a hub of mostly overly priced restaurants. Locale café and bar is not just a café and bar, it is an amalgamation of a bar, café, lounge, diner and disco. One will be in touch with all the distinct moods it offers, once they spend good two hours there.

For music lovers it is always going to be entertaining. On all days they have a ‘song requests’ funda; on your table will be a small card on which you can scribble your demand, and in no less than five minutes it’s your song will be played. It’s an oldie way of offering happiness.

They are rather too conscious of their food, as compared to other restaurants. The managers are generally around and sometimes also take rounds to see if everyone’s gleeful or not. One strain of frown or scowl, and they will be right with you, to help you through it.

Yes, it’s just like a neighbourhood bar, where the ‘uncle’ knows you and asks you ‘how your day was’. If you don’t find all the above, the only reason could be; you’re there for the first time.

It’s comforting sometimes to be in a place which is adequately noisy and adequately quiet.

If one is a terrace lover, it offers a lush green view from its terrace area. It also has something called the ‘sunset table’ at their terrace area, during the dusk hours, especially after 3 pm, one can witness an amazing sunset view. In summers, sunset could be an exciting moment to see. In spite all this, for some it maybe too local a place to be, but truth being, that we are too used to plush lounges. For conversationalists, Locale offers a library where one can read and enjoy coffee conversations with their friends and family.

Food is not the most appealing part of the place though. They are good with it, but they could play around more. It has a ‘from all over the world’ combination of food, which kind of lowers the abilities of your palate. They serve Indianised cuisines, from world over like, Achari Soy Chap Tikka, Mushroom Corn Cigars, Loaded Nachos, Shawarama Wrap, Fish Steak Burger, Assorted Mushroom Risotto Burger, Spicy Exotic Smoked Chicken Pizza, Asian Style Five Spice Mutton Chops with Bell Pepper to name a few.

Cocktails are something they work hard on.  Bailey’s Colada, Chak de Phatte, Melon Bunch are a few sweet ones. They also have smoothies, and they look as great, you’ll be slurping after till the last drop.
