Two drug peddlers arrested

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths have arrested three drug peddlers in the city.In the first incident, two people were arrested near ITI bus stand in Dooravani Nagar when they tried to sell marijuana (ganja) to decoy policemen who posed as customers.

The suspects were identified as Srinivas (30) and Veeraiah (29), natives of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. They stayed at Munekolala in Marathalli. The jurisdictional KR Puram police seized 7 kg ganja from the duo, estimated to be worth Rs 1 lakh in the market.

The suspects told the police they had bought the substance at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh for Rs 6,000 and sold it in small packets for Rs 250 to Rs 500 each. They used to approach youngsters near colleges and lonely places to sell the stuff.

Nigerian caught

A Nigerian was arrested for peddling cocaine near a petrol bunk on Old Madras Road at Baiyapanahalli. The police said Dane Anikwe Uduaka (25) had come to the city a few months ago and claimed to be doing business. Five grams of cocaine worth Rs 50,000 was seized from him. He told the police he had purchased the contraband from his friend in Delhi and planned to sell it for a higher price to corporate employees.
