Paramilitary forces rushed to J&K

 The Centre on Saturday decided to send another 3,600 paramilitary personnel to Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen the security grid in the valley where violence continued for the past four days.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Finance Secretary Ratan P Watal, who is holding the additional charge of Union Home Secretary, after assessing the requirements of Jammu and Kashmir government to bring the situation under control without any further loss of lives.

Senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Defence, Central Armed Police Forces and Ministry of Home Affairs attended the meeting in which the decision to send “additional central armed police forces to strengthen the security grid in the Kashmir Valley” was taken.

Twelve companies (1,200 personnel) of the paramilitary personnel reached Kashmir on Saturday, the remaining 24 companies (2,400) will reach there by Sunday.
