Handcrafted delights

Good Italian

Does Cafe Diva need an introduction? The place is owned by celebrity chef and restaurateur, Ritu Dalmia. The new outlet at Sangam Courtyard, is as erudite as the others, may be intimidating to many, but since, this one is a cafe, it has got a more humble ambience and is cost-effective.

Large wooden tables, petite chairs and a yellow light throughout the day, this
place is just another hang out spot. But known for its Italian, it has customers who believe in appreciating food.

Specialised portioning, plating, presentation and taste of the food are awe-inspiring.
Few cafes take their food seriously. Sandwiches, coffees, burgers and pizzas adorn most of the menus, but Cafe Diva tries to offer you handcrafted dishes. They also take time in doing that.

Metrolife tried the simple and sour Prawns Wok Tossed, in which olive oil gave prawns a beautiful sheen. Like a salad dressing, sautéed prawns were garnished with rosemary, garlic and lime. After the starter, we progressed to the salads, where we ordered, Our all time favourite, which is fulfilling, to the stomach and senses both. With large green and purple lettuce leaves, the dish was dressed with garlic soy and Asian sesame chicken.

In the main course we ordered Grilled Sausages, and a pizza, Cotto. The Grilled Sausages were part of the ‘big plates’ bar. Huge pork sausages were wet with spicy, chunky tomato sauce, served with mashed potatoes. The strong smell and heavy meat may not be liked by many, only a completely famished person can consume the whole dish. So, mashed potatoes turned out to be the best part of the dish.  The pizza is a beauty. With thin crust, large and ample cheese, ham, kalamata olives and artichoke (a variety of a species of thistle), it looks simple but tastes divine. The choice was made on the basis of the toppings, seemed new.

For dessert, tiramisu is the best choice in this Italian restaurant, soft, watery, crunchy, bitter and sweet. The mousey pastry will make your jaw drop, and you will be uncontrollably spooning out large bites into your mouth. Do not feel guilty, you may miss it later.
