Cops booked for assaulting scribe during PF protest

An FIR has been registered against the inspector of Hulivamu police station and other police personnel for assaulting a journalist during the garment workers’ protest early this week.

A senior police officer said that a journalist from vernacular news channel had lodged a complaint in Mico Layout police station against the inspector stating that the latter assaulted him while he (journalist) was reporting the stir by garment workers against the restrictions on withdrawal of PF money.

“We have asked the DCP of South-East division to investigate into the case. If the inspector is found guilty, we will take suitable action,” added the officer.
