KPCT partners with CONCOR to launch new rail service

Last Updated 25 April 2016, 18:21 IST

Krishnapatnam Port in association with Container Corporation of India (CONCOR)  has launched a new direct bi-weekly rail connectivity service between ICD Bengaluru and KPCT. The service, which is currently live, will run a bi-weekly shuttle service to Maersk Salalah catering to the intense demand from business houses in and around Bengaluru.

The service has scheduled an export from ICD Bengaluru on every Tuesday and Friday, and an import departure from Krishnapatnam on every Wednesday and Saturday, a release said.

The newly launched service will radically reduce the transportation time to a mere 48 hours for both import and export transits post discharge of the vessel. This will benefit the heavy cargoes which otherwise face regulatory issues due to the weight restrictions via road transport.

The connectivity has carried a total of 106 TEU and 117 TEU of exports and imports respectively to and from Bengaluru.

Anil Yendluri, CEO of KPCT said, “Our new rail service has been strategically allocated to not just cater to the intense demand but also address the needs of our customers with efficient facilities which will enable them to leverage our association for the better.”

“Krishnapatnam port has steadily brought about a revolution in the country’s maritime trade and with every new service we introduce we expect to elevate the quality and precision of our services, providing the industry-best prices and thereby rendering a better experience to our customers every time,” he added.
